B&B — Christchurch

Take a tram. All aboard for Cathedral Square, or anywhere else you want to go in central Christchurch.
Central Christchurch Trams
The Christchurch trams are a real slice of Christchurch History. They are well worth a visit when staying at Stoneleigh Lodge B&B. The first trams in Christchurch were introduced in the nineteenth century; they were horse drawn and steam driven. The first electric trams were introduced to Christchurch in about 1905. They served as public transport until 1954. Occasional tram services were still available in parts of the city (such as Papanui Road) into the 1960s. The trams were successfully reintroduced to Christchurch in 1995, largely through the efforts of the Tramway Historical Society.
The trams are now a convenient way for visitors to travel about the centre of Christchurch. They travel in a circuit about the city centre, stopping at various interesting destinations. Tickets are purchased from the conductor. Your ticket lasts for two days and you can get on and off the trams as often as you wish during this time.
For a great night out you can take a trip on the Tramway Restaurant, which operates from 7.30pm each night.
