Christchurch Bed and Breakfast

Christchurch Bed and Breakfast

After driving from Christchurch to the West Coast over the Great Alpine Highway,
the blowholes at Punakaiki are a blast. Stand back and watch the performance.

The Great Alpine Highway

While staying at Stoneleigh Christchurch bed and breakfast you may wish to take in some of the magnificent alpine scenery first hand by driving over this scenic route, which takes you to the West Coast. This great road takes in a wide breadth of the New Zealand scenery and landscape. Starting at sea level on the Canterbury Plains you cross this busy farming area before you start climbing in the gently rolling foothills. Before long you find yourself going up over Porters Pass and past a number of the local ski fields before you pass picturesque Lake Pearson and then travel through into beautiful alpine native bush before reaching Arthur's Pass. You can take a break here if you wish or carry on down to the West Coast.

Once on the West Coast you will note the difference in the vegetation with lush rain forest and bush. The weather over here is often quite the opposite of that in Canterbury, especially if one of our North Westerlies is blowing!

The Great Alpine Highway is a great way to take in a range of different places and scenery, just right for a day or two on the road.

"From a Christchurch bed and breakfast to the blowholes and spectacular seas off the West Coast."
