Christchurch Homestay, NZ

At the top of the Alpine Pacific Triangle, the mountains meet the sea at Kaikoura.
You can watch the whales and be mesmerised by the beauty of the mountains.
Alpine Pacific Triangle
No, it's not the same as the Bermuda Triangle! This is the name given to a great scenic route that you might want to drive whilst staying at Stoneleigh lodge, your Christchurch homestay — NZ has many fine scenic drives and this one allows you to take in a diverse landscape. Starting from the low-lying Canterbury Plains, you drive through the Waipara Valley and on to the Hurinui district and Hanmer Springs area. You then come out onto the rugged Kaikoura coastline and can then go north or come back down the coast back to Christchurch. You can do it in a day but it is probably more fun over a few days, taking in the many sights and activities along the way.
There is a lot to see on the way including:
- Waipara valley — with its wineries
- Hanmer Springs area — with many activities
- Kaikoura — with whale watching and great restaurants.
The circuit is about 370 km and well worth the drive.
