Botanical Gardens and Hagley Park
While staying at Stoneleigh Lodge luxury bed & breakfast, Christchurch and the Botanical Gardens are a 'must see'.
Near the centre of the city are the Botanical Gardens and Hagley Park. The founders of Christchurch had great foresight when they set these large areas aside for us to enjoy today. Hagley Park is a large open park in the city, which has a golf course and many sports grounds for a range of sports from soccer to rugby, netball and cricket. On a Saturday, you can go and see any number of sports being played. Take a warm jacket and a scarf in winter, or a sunhat in summer. It is a great way to see the sports we play down here!
The Botanical Gardens were established in 1863. They cover 30 hectares and have extensive mature plantings of a variety of different species. Stroll around and enjoy the world-class plant collections. Take a while to sit under a tree and read a book, or take a picnic. For those who wish, there is a tourist "train" which can take you on a tour of the gardens.
"Your luxury bed & breakfast offers you easy access to Christchurch city."
