Not far from Stoneleigh Lodge, your luxury bed and breakfast, Christchurch City is a 'must see'. At the centre of Christchurch is the magnificent Anglican Cathedral. This sits in pride of place in the square in the centre of Christchurch. This beautiful building was built in the 1880s and is the centrepiece of the Christchurch cultural precinct.

The Cathedral has its own chorister school, the Cathedral Grammar School. This school was opened in 1881 with one of its aims being to educate and provide choristers for the Cathedral. Today the Cathedral Grammar School still educates and trains choristers for the cathedral. A choir of boys from the school sings in the Sunday services of the Cathedral most weeks. The school also has two other choirs, one of girls and another of boys that also sing in the cathedral on occasion.

The Cathedral is well worth a visit. All are welcome. You can look around, have a guided tour and even climb the spire (conveniently provided with stairs). You can also attend one of the daily services or just sit back to contemplate things for a while.
