Luxury Lodge in Christchurch

Luxury Lodge in Christchurch

October is an excellent time to visit the Canterbury countryside
about the Cheviot and Gore Bay area, when the spring lambs are out in force.

Cheviot and Gore Bay

If travelling over the Alpine Pacific triangle touring route, you won't want to miss Cheviot and the Gore Bay Tourist Drive.

The Alpine Pacific Triangle Touring Route is just to the north of Stoneleigh, your luxury lodge in Christchurch. You can easily get there for a morning or afternoon. Starting from the low-lying Canterbury Plains this scenic route takes you up the East Coast of the South Island towards the rugged Kaikoura coastline. On the way north you can take the short detour from Cheviot to Gore Bay. Cheviot is the centre of the Hurinui's pastoral farming area. The rivers in the area give excellent trout and salmon fishing. If you want to you can have a guide to take you to the best fishing spots.

Gore Bay is a short drive from Cheviot. It is a well-kept secret, and is regarded by some as one of New Zealand's safest swimming beaches. It often gives great surfing.

"Rural spring scenes ready to be enjoyed at your quiet, luxury lodge in Christchurch."
